What is it about? This programme aims to:
• equip students with the basic theoretical orientations and therapeutic skills in;
• sensitize students to the ethical issues, professional concerns, and emic and etic counselling techniques in various settings;
• enhance students’ self-awareness towards their own world values, beliefs and philosophy of life; and
• prepare students for receiving further training in becoming a counselling professional.

SOWK1004/SOWK1012 and 2 out of GEOG1002 or GEOG1003 or GEOG1005 or GEOG1012 or GEOG1016 or GEOG1017/POLI1003/PSYC1001 or PSYC1004/SOCI1001 or SOCI1003/SOWK1001 or SOWK1002 or SOWK1004 or SOWK1011 or SOWK1012 or SOWK1015/SINO1002 (not more than one from the same discipline)

Career opportunities The Counselling programme is intended for students who want to apply effective counselling and communication skills for problem solving among all walks of like. A large selection of elective courses introduces theoretical and practical skills and competencies to enable graduates to engage effectively in the work of counselling in a range of professional fields. The flexibility allows students to gain a strong understanding of their selves, the community, society and ethical practice.
