Comparative Literature

What is it about? We teach literary, film, and cultural texts across national and linguistic divides. We introduce students to critical theories, making them accessible and applicable to working environments and everyday life as well as to further studies. Students learn to see the world around them through diverse texts, mediums, and ways of seeing.
Teaching staff in the Department conduct research and offer instruction in the following five areas: Literature, Film, and related cultural phenomena, Literary and Critical theory, Gender and Sexuality, Hong Kong, China, and Asia, Postcolonial and Global Studies

Pre-requisite requirements and/or other conditions for declaring the major/minor Major:
Grade C or above in CLIT1001 or CLIT1008 or CLIT1009 or CLIT1010, and 12 credits of introductory courses from any Arts programmes, which may include additional credits in 1000-level CLIT courses.

Minor:
CLIT1001 or CLIT1008 or CLIT1009 or CLIT1010.
