What is it about? This major is offered by the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering. It not only inherits traditional strengths of Industrial and Systems Engineering on process and operations analytics, but also extends to incorporate latest technologies including IoT, Digital Twin, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Data and Decision Analytics. Besides, students will have tremendous flexibility to choose courses offered by other departments and faculties in the university. Graduates from Systems Analytics major would make impactful contributions in application areas of multiple disciplines including processes and operations of manufacturing and logistics systems, service systems, healthcare service systems and financial systems.

Career opportunities Graduates with this major may work as business analysts in the financial service industry, data scientists in the retail and consumer industry, operations consultant in the service industry or industrial engineers in the manufacturing industry. Depending on their tasks, they devise efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information and energy to provide a service or make a product. When observing problems, they may watch clerks providing service in a bank or watch workers moving cargo in a warehouse. When solving problems, they may sit in an office at a computer, analyzing the data they or others have collected and proposing potential solutions.
